TOPS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS- 2/10/19

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Love the process and the grind as much as the results.” Anonymous

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lila, Marie, Kinley, and Ciara!

This Thursday is Valentine’s Day!! Our swimmers can send a virtual Valentine card(s) to those who are presently undergoing treatment at St. Jude’s hospital. There are cards from which you can choose, and you can write your own Valentine’s Day message or select a pre-written message. In the spirit of a fellow and local swimmer, Nikolette Nolte, and her present treatment and struggles, here is the link:
https://www.stjude.org/get-involved/other-ways/valentines-day.html

Everyone should have received the *Clay Shoot Fundraising information via email. Please support this fundraising effort. It is unique, fun, and highly successful!

PRACTICE
*A lot of inclement weather is forecasted for this week. With that, many of our TOPS HS/USA swimmers may be joining us for practice, beyond their ONE practice per week requirement.

WITH THIS REALITY: If you are not swimming in any season ending USA meets with TOPS, and/or have not committed to swim for any USA season ending meets, our pool restraints, along with planned swimmer participation, constrains our ability to offer non-USA swimmers pool time. This decision making is implemented by other swim programs who are, now, solely in USA mode. Lastly, for our TOPS HS swimmers, our present level of training may not align to where you are in your HS training in getting ready for your season ending HS meets. We wish we had more pool time to offer additional training opportunities, but at present, we have to plan accordingly.

Good luck, to our TOPS HS Swimmers at the PAC Championships this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

USA SWIMMING
*It is assumed that all is in place and understood for our season ending USA meets. Coach Catherine was available, last Wed. and Friday evening, to assist and answer questions.

All times should be updated in the *Parent portal for the season ending USA meet entry. Please be aware of deadlines.

*To prepare for the season ending USA meets, it is important to *continue to follow the training plan in place. *

Swimmers should be *eating healthy and getting ample sleep.

Swimmers should take a *screenshot of their USA card so that it is ready to show, if they are asked to produce evidence of their USA membership.

Get a *TOPS cap, if you are needing one ($7.00). We do have long hair caps. No other cap is to be worn at USA meets and at TOP practices.

Attire at USA meets- Though we love that our TOPS family covers a wide geography base, we do ask that our TOPS swimmers wear ONLY TOPS attire to USA meets…no HS attire, grade school attire, etc. We are at the USA meets as one swim family, and one example of that unity is wearing TOPS apparel.

Need TOPS apparel? Go to the Swim Outlet link, on our team website, and see all that is offered through our team store. Many items have been discounted. Again, this is another fundraising avenue for our team.

USA CHAMPIONSHIP SHIRTS
Thanks to Anne Crew, we have a TOPS USA Championship shirt for all interested in purchasing one! They look awesome!

*On the back is the list of our season ending USA meets, and ALL our swimmers will wear the same shirt, regardless of what meet they will be attending. The approx. price is around $15.00, but it may be a little more or less pending the number we order.

TIMELY AND IMPORTANT:+ Please email Coach Catherine, with your intent on purchasing a shirt, along with shirt size, by this Wed. (2/6).+ With that information, we will then solidify a price and get the ball rolling so that our JO swimmers will have them in time for JO’s.

SEASON ENDING USA MEETS
*FYI…We imported the PV Fall Fest results, shortly after the meet. For some reason, the results are not importing ,properly into Active, therefore, may not be showing up in your Parent Portal. We are working on this. Please know that we check all times, prior to submitting entries for meets.

The first required deadline for *MA Junior Olympics is Feb. 22nd, right before the UDAC Closed Invite. Our first deadline is Feb. 17th, for those that already have a cut, we will get those entries submitted. After the UDAC Closed Invite, we will be submitting a second entry file, and those will include NEW events earned for JO’s. We cannot use that meet to update previous JO times.

BRONZE CHAMPS
*This meet is open for entry for our 14 and younger USA swimmers who have a USA time, in a given event, which meets the parameters, set by Middle Atlantic. No SAL times, from dual meets, or B Champs, can be used. Also, NT are not permitted. Only USA times can be used for this meet, and all USA meets.

SILVER CHAMPS
*This meet is open for entry for our USA Swimmers (14 and under) who have met the time standards set by Middle Atlantic. For our 15 and older swimmers, who do not have a Senior Champs cut, this meet is for you. You can earn a Senior Champs cut at this meet.

SENIOR CHAMPS
*This meet is for our TOPS/USA/HS Swimmers. This meet has time standards. Swimmers need just one time cut and they an then swim bonus events. Those bonus event, though, need to have a USA time.

TOPS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 1/27/19

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Feel the present. Hold the vision. Let go of the resistance. Enjoy the journey. Trust the process.” Frederick Talloen

WHAT’S ON TAP WITH TOPS?

B CHAMPS- We had a large TOPS representation at the B Championships. Our swimmers showed growth in technique (which is most important) and many experienced time drops. Coaches noted what the swimmers are doing well and identified areas we will continue to focus.

*North Penn has forwarded the results from the Girls’ B champs, and they have been imported into our team website. You should be able to see your swimmer’s results through your Parent Portal. As soon as the Boys’ B Champs results are sent to us, we will import, and then you, too, can see your swimmer’s results via the Parent Portal.

*We hope that the swimmers had a great time. They were positive and ready to swim.

We are thankful to our parents, who helped countless times this season, yet stepped forward, once again, to help. *Thank you, Bolding, Lucas, Garner, Pulcher, Moffa (both sessions at both locations!!!), Tex, Olinick, Fisher, Souder, Lacock, Catron, Sherrick, Ognissanti, Claffey, Tighe Karaffa, Rohrbaugh, Budroni, Lear, Cooper, and Williams).

*If we overlooked anyone, please accept our apologies and our sincere thanks for supporting us.

Yesterday, at the Girls’ Champs, our team was recognized as bringing the most goods for their community service effort. *WAY to go, TOPS!

For our swimmers who are not swimming in ‘A’ Champs and/or not swimming USA, you have a well-deserved break. During this break we encourage our swimmers to stay physically active. That can be participating in another sport or doing some basic dryland (e.g. planks, wall sits, push-ups, as well as, stretching). These simple dryland exercises will help with technique, body control, and strength in the water.

A CHAMPS
We have *twenty-six girls and twenty-two boys who will be representing TOPS at A Champs, which will be held at LaSalle University on February 3rd.

We need the LaSalle University SAL Champs waiver signed by participating swimmers and their parents. Parents, you can sign on your swimmer’s paper. We are asking that all waivers be brought to practice by Feb. 2nd. The swimmer will be unable to swim if the waiver is not signed.

*An email will be forthcoming concerning A Champs.

*For the swimmers who will be swimming at ‘A’ Champs, you have practice, this week.

*For those who are not swimming USA, this will be your final week of training, and then you, too, will have a well-deserved break.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE
*We have assessed the following for our practice location, this week, and our remaining weeks:
1) Number of remaining swimmers
2) Training facility of the remaining swimmers
3) Pool availability

*Our data reveals that training at the Pottstown Athletic facility is best. We apologize if this causes any hardship, but we hope that our families can help each other with carpooling, etc.
