TOPS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS- 11/5/18
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Make measurable progress in reasonable time.” Jim Rohn
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Niamh, Maura, Matthew, Lucy, Emma, and Jada!!
Joey and Nicholas Moffa just finished their CYO Soccer Season with St. Eleanor and were undefeated!
Congratulations, TOPS divers and swimmers, on your first dual meet! Methacton provided some excellent competition which aided our swimmers to swim their best. We will be importing the results and you should have your swimmer’s times available to you through your personal portal.
The coaches will be addressing, with the swimmers, that which needs improvement, in the water and on deck.
Parents, thank you for stepping forward to volunteer at both meets. From Brian Stoudt, our board’s president:
“_I would like to thank everyone for stepping up today at both meets, especially at the girls meet. Kory Parsia did an awesome job starting, all the folks at the scorer’s table handled a few issues and still kept everything going, the timers did a great job, setup/tear down made sure everything was taken care of for the meet, officials did a great job, and the bake table had an awesome day. It was a challenging facility, but you all made it work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And thank you to the YMCA Staff, The were very helpful and accommodating._”
At the boys’ meet, I (Catherine) had parent volunteers telling me, “I am sorry if I don’t know what I am doing.” “I’m nervous about doing something wrong.” No worries! We appreciate you saying ‘yes’ to a need. We thank you for stepping forward to volunteer, in spite of your nervousness. We are very grateful for your time and support. Thank you to all who helped at the boys’ meet!!

*If you are unable to attend this meet, please email your absence by Tuesday evening (Click on the giant orange button on the team’s website – CONTACT TOPS). It is crucial information for the coaches, in order to begin planning the line-up. All the coaches are working during the day, and having this information respects their planning time.
**Please note: If a swimmer does not show for a dual meet, and has not notified a coach of his/her absence by the declared date, then the swimmer will not be permitted to swim in the following dual meet.
Reason: Failing to show for a dual meet: impacts other swimmers, the planned line up, and takes valuable time from the coaches who should be with the swimmers during warm-up.
Also, these last minute changes are challenging for the volunteers at the scorer’s table, the starter, and the meet marshalls. Thank you, in advance, for your attention to this.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS: We know that everyone has a lot on their plate. The weekly announcements are meant to give you the information you need to be fully informed. We try to encompass all the information in the announcements, which is also posted on our website and on our Facebook page.
Please refer to the weekly announcements/emails.
*We do read your emails and try to respond within 24 hrs. We are thankful for your questions which highlight info. that we have failed to provide or is necessary for clarity.
HHAA High Five- When the results are made available, these times will be imported and you should be able to see your swimmer’s times in your personal portal.
Next SAL Invite- Nov. 18th – North Penn Trophy Meet
*We were successful in entering the Jersey Storm meet.
*The following was sent from the Jersey Storm meet director:
“_I could use some assistance with volunteer timers. I need 16 timers for each ABBC session. If you have any parents that you could set up to time before the meet, if you could let me know that would be VERY helpful. I can give your team a certain lane or lanes, session, etc._”
“_We are running a timed finals ABBC (9&Over) meet at GCIT in Sewell, NJ on December 8-9, 2018. This will be our 27th year running this meet and this year we again have quite a large turnout from Middle Atlantic Swimming as well as a few teams from outside our LSC.
We run a well-organized meet and provide great hospitality for our volunteers. We are looking for referees, starters, and stroke & turn officials to assist us with running the meet each day and are hoping that you would be willing to help us out. The meet session timeline is below.
Our Meet Referee this year is Nick Chilelli.
PLEASE HELP US OUT AND OFFICIATE AT THE MEET.
The officials sign up page (via sign-up genius) is here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0D44ADA62DA1FC1-strm1
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank-you for all that you do for age-group swimming and thank-you for your consideration.”
We have successfully entered the *LAC Holiday Cup.
Entries are still being accepted for the Marauder Distance meet* in Jan. The deadline to commit to this meet is Nov. 18th.
*This meet is the same weekend as the Upper Merion Last Chance meet. We interpret the spirit of this meet as providing a swimmer the opportunity to acquire a top 18 time for “A” Champs; hence a last chance meet. We recommend this meet for our swimmers who have a top 30 SAL time in a given event. If your swimmer has a top 18 time, then we do not want our swimmers to swim in this meet. They will swim at “A” Champs, which is a USA Approved meet.
