TOPS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 1/13/19

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “It’s a slow process, don’t make it slower by quitting.” Anonymous

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Giancarlo, Ava, and Quinton!

WHAT’S ON DECK WITH TOPS?

*We are very grateful to all who swam/dove and volunteered at the dual meets, yesterday. We had approximately 70 swimmers absent, and regardless of this deficit, we were victorious at both meets.

*Thank you, parents, for stepping forward to help, even though you may have met your required hours. You answered a call, and we were ready to go at each meet. We did have some last minute positions that needed manning, but again, you were unselfish and you stepped forward to help. Please know the coaches, and the board, are aware of your volunteering effort and we are most appreciative. Thank you.

*Swimmers, thank you for ‘showing up.’ We understand it is not always easy, especially this time of year, when you are tired. The coaches have witnessed excellent examples of swimmers who give their best, regardless of who they are swimming, never complain, and who are respectful of their coaches, teammates, and competitors. This is a reflection of your character, and this is paramount over any amount of talent.

With the dual meet season concluded, next on tap for some of our swimmers is the *Upper Merion Last Chance meet, which will be held Jan. 19th and Upper Merion High School.

Here is what is left of the 2018-2019 SAL Season:
1/15 – Updated top 50 list will be posted on SAL
1/19 – Upper Merion Last Chance Meet- After the meet, updated times will be submitted to SAL.
1/20- Coaches will be attending a Seed Meeting to determine who will be attending “A” Champs at LaSalle University.
1/25- Last practice for swimmers who will be concluding their season at “B” championships.
1/26 – “B” Championships at North Penn High School
2/2* – Last practice for swimmers who will be concluding their swim season at “A” Championships.
2/3 – “A” Championships at LaSalle University

Practice beyond “A” Championships will be for TOPS USA Swimmers.

What to know about “A” and “B” Championships

*We will have a complete picture, after the seed meeting on 1/20. We will know who will be attending “B” and “A” champs.

*+Relays+- We will be sending our fastest relay to “A” Championships at LaSalle University. Only one relay, per age group, per team, is permitted.

*Some may have a reservation of attending “A” Championship just for a relay, but it is vital to conclude the season as strongly and as honestly as we can. The “A” championships meet is quite exciting, and being a part of it will create a memory.

*Emailed in your weekly announcements are the meet entries, boys and girls, which we submitted to SAL, today, for the seed meeting. As you will see, we identified the fastest relay per age group. Flat start times were used to develop the relays.

USA SWIMMING

Marauder Meet- You were sent the psych sheet and information about this meet, last week.

UDAC CLOSED INVITE- Entries have been sent and accepted.

MIDDLE ATLANTIC SEASON ENDING INFORMATION

*We will begin to construct a rough list of swimmers for each season ending meet, as well as, info. for each season ending meet.

Our first Middle Atlantic meet is *Junior Olympics. This time standard meet will be available for entry on Jan. 27th. By that time, we should have a clear picture of who has earned a JO time. Swimmers who will swim in JO’s can also swim in Silvers, but not the same events. We strongly encourage our JO swimmers to swim at Silvers.

Entry for *Middle Atlantic Bronze champs (14 and under) is different this year. Due to the large amount of athletes, they have now established a time standard, therefore, swimmers will have to meet a qualifying time. A Silver qualifying time can be earned at Bronze.

MIddle Atlantic Silver Champs- If a 15 and older swimmer does not earn a Senior champs qualifying time, then he/she will swim at Silver Championships. 15 and older swimmers can earn a qualifying time for Seniors Championships at Silvers.

The Middle Atlantic time standard *Senior championships are for our TOPS HS USA swimmers.

*Thanks to Mrs. Crew, we are going to have a championship shirt, available for purchase, within the coming weeks. An email will be forthcoming with images of the shirt and ordering information.
