TOPS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS - 5/28/19
Yesterday, our nation celebrated Memorial Day. Aside from this special day commemorating all those who lost their lives in service of this great county, we are reminded that we should keep all those, past and present, in our constant thoughts and prayers on a daily basis.
The picture, attached to this announcement, is from an article titled Gripping Photos of Fallen Soldiers’ Bedrooms, by By T.A. Frail; Photographs by Ashley Gilbertson for Smithsonian Magazine. (See our Facebook page for the link sharing this article).
We see many pictures of flags, soldier, gravestones, etc., but this article took pictures of the bedrooms, now vacant, of those who lost their lives defending us.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Ciara, Owen, Elsa, Jayson, and Justin!!
Thank you to all who participated in our Spring Clinic. We thoroughly enjoyed coaching the swimmers and hope that the swimmers found the clinic to be constructive and fun.
We wish the best to all our swimmers as they begin practice with their respective summer swim team. Have fun and please come say ‘hello’ to the coaches!
The Clay Shoot was very successful! We raised approximately $7,000.00 toward our future. Thank you to all who participated and supported this fundraiser, and we thank you for believing in TOPS.
Our next big fundraiser will take place in the fall, for we will host a golf tournament. In the meantime, visit a local course and swing the club a few times. Think about getting a foursome ready to have some fun. More information will be forthcoming.
This is a good challenge, issued by USA Swimming. There are many ways, outside the pool, in which swimmers can help themselves reach their optimal level.
CHALLENGE YOURSELF WITH NUTRITION THIS SUMMER

EXCERPT FROM THE ARTICLE, LINKED ABOVE:
“USA Swimming will require all of its adult athletes to complete an “Athlete Protection Training” (APT) program by June 23, 2019, or risk ineligibility.”
“Here are some of the important points about this new requirement:
*All adult athletes (18 years or older) must complete the APT.
*Any 17-year-old athlete must complete the APT by their 18th birthday or risk ineligibility once they turn 18.
*Adult athletes must complete the APT every year – it expires 12 months after you complete all three courses.
*Athletes who do not fulfill this requirement will be ineligible to compete in meets or practice, and times swum while ineligible will not count for qualification to any meets.
*This requirement takes effect June 23, though USA Swimming says there will be a 30-day grace period for the “initial training requirement.”
**For any of our TOPS USA swimmers, past and present, who meet the above criteria, please complete the Athlete Protection Training ASAP. Check off the box so that you can ensure that you are eligible to swim in meets (club and college).
HAVE AN EXCELLENT WEEK, EVERYONE! *
