QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Make measurable progress in reasonable time.” Jim Rohn
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Niamh, Maura, Matthew, Lucy, Emma, and Jada!!
Joey and Nicholas Moffa just finished their CYO Soccer Season with St. Eleanor and were undefeated!
Congratulations, TOPS divers and swimmers, on your first dual meet! Methacton provided some excellent competition which aided our swimmers to swim their best. We will be importing the results and you should have your swimmer’s times available to you through your personal portal.
The coaches will be addressing, with the swimmers, that which needs improvement, in the water and on deck.
Parents, thank you for stepping forward to volunteer at both meets. From Brian Stoudt, our board’s president:
“_I would like to thank everyone for stepping up today at both meets, especially at the girls meet. Kory Parsia did an awesome job starting, all the folks at the scorer’s table handled a few issues and still kept everything going, the timers did a great job, setup/tear down made sure everything was taken care of for the meet, officials did a great job, and the bake table had an awesome day. It was a challenging facility, but you all made it work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And thank you to the YMCA Staff, The were very helpful and accommodating._”
At the boys’ meet, I (Catherine) had parent volunteers telling me, “I am sorry if I don’t know what I am doing.” “I’m nervous about doing something wrong.” No worries! We appreciate you saying ‘yes’ to a need. We thank you for stepping forward to volunteer, in spite of your nervousness. We are very grateful for your time and support. Thank you to all who helped at the boys’ meet!!

*If you are unable to attend this meet, please email your absence by Tuesday evening (Click on the giant orange button on the team’s website – CONTACT TOPS). It is crucial information for the coaches, in order to begin planning the line-up. All the coaches are working during the day, and having this information respects their planning time.
**Please note: If a swimmer does not show for a dual meet, and has not notified a coach of his/her absence by the declared date, then the swimmer will not be permitted to swim in the following dual meet.
Reason: Failing to show for a dual meet: impacts other swimmers, the planned line up, and takes valuable time from the coaches who should be with the swimmers during warm-up.
Also, these last minute changes are challenging for the volunteers at the scorer’s table, the starter, and the meet marshalls. Thank you, in advance, for your attention to this.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS: We know that everyone has a lot on their plate. The weekly announcements are meant to give you the information you need to be fully informed. We try to encompass all the information in the announcements, which is also posted on our website and on our Facebook page.
Please refer to the weekly announcements/emails.
*We do read your emails and try to respond within 24 hrs. We are thankful for your questions which highlight info. that we have failed to provide or is necessary for clarity.
HHAA High Five- When the results are made available, these times will be imported and you should be able to see your swimmer’s times in your personal portal.
Next SAL Invite- Nov. 18th – North Penn Trophy Meet
*We were successful in entering the Jersey Storm meet.
*The following was sent from the Jersey Storm meet director:
“_I could use some assistance with volunteer timers. I need 16 timers for each ABBC session. If you have any parents that you could set up to time before the meet, if you could let me know that would be VERY helpful. I can give your team a certain lane or lanes, session, etc._”
“_We are running a timed finals ABBC (9&Over) meet at GCIT in Sewell, NJ on December 8-9, 2018. This will be our 27th year running this meet and this year we again have quite a large turnout from Middle Atlantic Swimming as well as a few teams from outside our LSC.
We run a well-organized meet and provide great hospitality for our volunteers. We are looking for referees, starters, and stroke & turn officials to assist us with running the meet each day and are hoping that you would be willing to help us out. The meet session timeline is below.
Our Meet Referee this year is Nick Chilelli.
PLEASE HELP US OUT AND OFFICIATE AT THE MEET.
The officials sign up page (via sign-up genius) is here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0D44ADA62DA1FC1-strm1
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank-you for all that you do for age-group swimming and thank-you for your consideration.”
We have successfully entered the *LAC Holiday Cup.
Entries are still being accepted for the Marauder Distance meet* in Jan. The deadline to commit to this meet is Nov. 18th.
*This meet is the same weekend as the Upper Merion Last Chance meet. We interpret the spirit of this meet as providing a swimmer the opportunity to acquire a top 18 time for “A” Champs; hence a last chance meet. We recommend this meet for our swimmers who have a top 30 SAL time in a given event. If your swimmer has a top 18 time, then we do not want our swimmers to swim in this meet. They will swim at “A” Champs, which is a USA Approved meet.

PVAC FALL FEST- The coaches were very pleased with our swimmer’s effort and swims on Sunday at the PV Fall Fest. The coaches were not focused on times. It was a meet which gave our swimmers the chance to get those swim juices flowing, as well as, helped the coaches see what the swimmers are doing well and where they need to continue to improve. Overall, Great job, swimmers!!
We are awaiting the results from this invite, so that we can import the times. The swimmers’ times should then be reflected through your individual Parent Portal.
An email will be forthcoming concerning pertinent information. If you are unable to attend this invite, please email the coaches via the CONTACT TOPS link on our new website.

Swimming is ONE part of our swimmers’ very rich and varied life. They are a sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends, teammates, students, musicians, parishioners, etc. Though our focus is on swimming at TOPS, we do want to acknowledge our swimmer’s talents and accomplishments outside of swimming. *TOPS Cap (Swimmers must wear a TOPS Cap. No fun caps or other team caps will be permitted at invites and dual meets. The cost for a replacement cap is $7.00. We will be getting caps at each training facility and you will be billed accordingly.
Note concerning dual meets: TOPS participates in the Suburban Aquatic League (SAL). Attending, and supporting, the scheduled dual meets is vital. It is expected that all swimmers make every effort to attend the dual meets listed below. In order to participate in the season ending SAL championships, all swimmers must participate in 40% of the dual meets (two meets). The TOPS coaches consider this the bare minimum, and we wish our swimmers to surpass this basic expectation.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “If you quit on the process, you are quitting on the result.” Idowu Koyenikan
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Abigail, Sophia, and Coach Natalie!!
THERE IS NO PRACTICE AT HILL SCHOOL, THIS EVENING, DUE TO ELECTRICAL WORK. TOPS Hill swimmers have the night off. They are not to go to Perk for practice.
*At each training facility, we have family mailboxes. Please check the mailboxes, about once a week. For the new swimmers not in attendance for the team picture, your orange shirt and team cap should be in your family folder.
*Also, in your folder should be the flyer for our large team fundraiser. Thank you, in advance for your efforts to support this.
*Going forward: Any awards earned at invitationals/USA meets, will be put in the family folder.
*We have contacted Hatboro-Horsham, and are awaiting their response concerning our potential participation. Here is some preliminary information. When we get the ‘go ahead’ we will email, everyone, and you can then begin to enter the meet through the new website.
*Sunday, November 4th, Simmons Elementary School, 411 S. Babylon Rd., Horsham, Pa. 19044
*The Information sheet, for this invite, is attached.
*There is a flat $20.00 per swimmer fee.
*In order to qualify for a potential award, a swimmer must swim the five events in his/her age group.
*From the coaches: Swimming five events, in one session is not ideal, and not what we traditionally recommend. It is a lot of swimming in a short period of time. Swimmers may choose to swim fewer events, but the flat fee applies.
*This is a fundraiser for Hatboro-Horsham, and we are happy to support a fellow SAL team. Though there will be officials in attendance, we are not sure about the rigor of the officiating. We believe it is crucial to provide our swimmers with an honest assessment of their present capabilities. Please know, that if we see that your swimmer is not legal, even though there was not an official DQ, we will make note of it, and we will not put your swimmer in a meet, in that event, until we have remedied technical issue.
*We will be expected to provide timers, and possibly, officials, for this invitational. Please be prepared to help.
