News and Announcements
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” Robert Collier
We concluded our regular season dual meet with a great meet with Pennridge. They provided some excellent races and they are a great team to swim each year.
The dual meet results, for Pennridge, have been imported and should be reflected in your Parent Portal.
We do not have any more dual meets for the remainder of this month. We have two post-season dual meets, in January (1/4, 1/7), which are important and we request your participation.
These meets allow our swimmers additional chances to improve their times and change their ranking in the TOPS 50 for SAL.
Information will be emailed when a determination is made, by SAL, as to who we will swim in January, but what we can tell you is that we will swim teams from other divisions.
There is a chance that they will update the SAL TOP 50 when all results have been sent to the SAL webmaster. If they are updated, we will forward to you.
Since we do not have dual meets the next three weeks, we will have TOPS practice at PAC. These practices are for ALL our TOPS swimmers. (12/14, 12/21, 12/28).
: 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
: 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Good luck, TOPS HS Swimmers, in your respective HS dual meets, which begin this week. Have fun!
Remember, you need to attend ONE TOPS practice per week!
If your swimmer wishes to swim in the Council Rock Hawaiian Invite, please commit by Dec. 15th.

*This is a SAL invitational and is NOT USA Approved.
The following SAL Invitationals are for all our swimmers, therefore, everyone will receive the invite to participate. BUT, we have criteria for each of these invites.
At the end of the Jan. 4th dual meet, you should have a good idea if your swimmer is in the TOP 50.
Yes, they have a chance to get into the TOP 50 on Jan. 11th, but given the number of our swimmers, we thought it best to pursue this avenue.
Swimmers can acquire a TOP 50 time at this SAL Invitational. A time is a time. This meet is Jan. 12th.
For swimmers who have a TOP 50 time, and wish to swim in a January SAL Invite, we ask that you swim at the Upper Merion Last Chance meet.

- Best of luck to Chris Guiliano at Jr. Nationals at GA Tech, this Wed. through Saturday!!!
– An email will be forthcoming concerning all pertinent information, in the next two days. Good luck, swimmers!
We submitted these entries in the beginning of Oct. and not heard from the meet director. We have contacted him, a few times, to ascertain our status. Just fyi.
“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.” Newt Gingrich
Our first SHOUT OUT goes to Haley Lindenmuth. This weekend was the GRA B+ USA meet. Haley just completed a swim, was in the water (due to in water starts), and saw a swimmer, who was ready to swim the next race, needing a pair of goggles because hers just broke. Without hesitation, Haley gave her goggles to the swimmer to her to use. An excellent example of why our swimmers are TOPS!! Thank you, Haley!
Also, we received this feedback from the GRA Meet Director:
The GRA meet director said that our parents stepped up in an unbelievable fashion to help the meet run smoothly, and she really appreciated us covering for the other teams. She also said she was watching from across the pool, and saw how our coaches interacted with all our swimmers, and thought it was amazing.
Way to go swimmers, parents, and coaches! You are all TOPS!!
We will have a parent meeting in the next few weeks. We are trying to secure a location and a time. This meeting is to give our families/coaches an opportunity to touch base before we head into the end of our busy SAL season.
SAL posts the TOP 50 times of each event and age group. What is a little confusing, looking at the list, is that there are some events that are not a part of the dual meet platform. The reason other events are listed is because they are available at SAL Invitationals.
Our swimmers only need to concern themselves with the dual meet events. This list will be updated, a few more times, in the upcoming weeks. Therefore, attendance and future swim performance will change the scope of the list. It is from this list that decisions will be made as to who will be attending ‘A’ Champs and ‘B’ Champs.
Also, included in the list are relays. The scope of the relays will change, too. Coaches may try different combinations, etc.
*FYI*…our fastest relay will be going to ‘A’ Champs at LaSalle University. It is expected that if your swimmer is part of that ‘A’ relay, he/she will attend. The date of ‘A’ Champs is Feb. 2nd.
Arrival- 11:45 a.m.
Warm-up- 12:00 p.m.
Start- 12:45 p.m.
Arrival – 11:15 a.m.
Warm-up – 11:30 a.m.
Start – 12:15 p.m.
This is our LAST REGULAR SEASON dual meet. As per SAL expectations, swimmers need to participate in TWO regular season dual meets in order to participate in the January dual meets and the SAL Championships.
If any TOPS swimmer has not participated in two regular season dual meets, their swim season will come to a conclusion at the end of this week.
Why? There is no need for continued training. The swimmer will not be getting ready to race. Due to our limited pool space, we cannot have swimmers join practice for conditioning/physical exercise. Our training time is purposeful with a direction and goal in mind.
We do not know who we will be swimming the last two dual meets, therefore, we do not know where. We will recognize our graduating seniors at one of those two dual meets. Therefore, TOPS seniors, we are expecting your attendance.
We are following the practice schedule on the website. There will be no practice, this Saturday, due to our dual meets. We will have Saturday practices on Dec. 14th, Dec. 21st, and Dec. 28th.
REMINDER: HS Swimmers- You are to be attending a minimum of ONE TOPS practice, per week. These expectations were very clear and must be met.
There are a number our swimmers who are missing equipment. Please assist us in making sure that they check the lost and found and/or making efforts to replenish what is missing. Not having the required equipment hampers the swimmer’s capability to meet the desired purpose and goal of a set.

Those training at Perk, received this information, earlier this week.
From Perk School:
“Gates will be locking the Tinnerholm Way gates that lead to the parking lot behind the gym from 6:00 PM Friday, November 22nd to 6:00 AM Tuesday, December 3rd . Enter through the parking lot in front of the football field on Seminary Street. Drive down to gym lot from there. Note: that there is a “Do not Enter” sign because it is a one way street, but there should not be a problem if they are careful. Our school is on break, so less to no traffic. The kids can also just walk down to the gym, whatever you think is best.
Building (gym) access: Coaches have ID cards to access the building from November 22 to December 3rd . We’re not able to set the unlock/lock schedule over the break, our system is not letting us override the programming. We understand you may have to prop the door open for students to get in.”
– Please note your preference for our use of your swimmer’s image via the link sent by Friday. (e.g. post pictures on website and Facebook).
Click- Attending- Yes, you can use my swimmer’s image.
Click – Not Attending – No, you cannot use my swimmer’s image.
- There was excellent competition, from both teams, which yielded season best times/ best times and exciting races.
Thank you to all the parents who got the swimmers to the meets on time and who stepped forward to help. We know that sitting in the stands is preferable and that you wear many hats. We appreciate your support and sacrifice; especially those who step forward week after week. It does not go unnoticed.
*The NPAC Dual meet results will be imported, in the next day or two, and should be reflected in your Parent Portal.
Dual meet #5 vs. Pennridge- This is our last REGULAR season dual meet.
: In order to participate in a season ending SAL Championship, swimmers must participate in at least TWO regular season dual meets.
*In January, the last two dual meets are for Conference standing and then League standings. Participation is expected.
- Within the next few weeks, SAL will begin to post the TOP times of each age group (boys, girls, relays) per event. This list will change over the course of the next two months, for we still have invites and dual meets yet to swim.
This list will give you a gauge as to what SAL Championship meet your swimmer will attend. Can they attend both? Yes, but they can’t swim the same event, and the number of entries must equate to the number of swims a swimmer swims in a dual meet (Max- four events: 3 individual events and 1 relay OR two individual events and two relays). ‘A’ Champs is determined at the Coaches’ Seed meeting in Jan. The top 18 times, per event, get to swim at ‘A’ Championships.
DO YOU HAVE TO SWIM AT CHAMPIONSHIPS? The answer is a resounding YES. For our SAL only swimmers, this championship meet is an excellent way to conclude their swim season. For our USA Swimmers, we expect you to participate in the SAL Championships, as well. ‘A’ Championships is a USA Approved meet. We have continuously requested SAL to USA Approve the ‘B’ Championships.
*The North Penn Trophy Meet results have been imported.
*If interested, please sign up for the Council Rock Hawaiian Invitational. This is a SAL Invitational. It is NOT USA Approved.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “The way you play the game is important. Understand how you play the game.” Tim Murphy (PSU Head Swim Coach)
*We had a visit from Penn State University’s Head Swim Coach, Tim Murphy, last week. He watched our practice for two hours, talked with Coach Bill, and then took a few moments to talk to our swimmers. Here is some of what he shared with them.
Be curious- Focus on the now. Make an effort to figure out what you are doing and why you are doing it. Focus on the process. This will help you learn and grow, not only in swimming but in all areas of your life.
Fun- Referring to the quote above, it is important to understand how you ‘play the game.’ This understanding supports individual development and cultivates ‘fun.’
Relationships- Team relationships are very important. Team comradery, with common goals, are foundational and essential for team unity and development. How you act, and the decisions you make, impact the whole, and can make everyone better; as an athlete and a person.
21 DAY CHALLENGE
Have you embraced the challenge? It is never too late to be grateful.

Great job, swimmers and parents for all your spirit and effort with our dual meets with PVAC! Again, we had some excellent swims, and we loved the energy at both meets.
Chris Merrell approached the coaches at the end of the boys’ meet to say ‘thank you,’ and we asked him if he had a good time. He said that his favorite part of the meet was the last event; boys’ Open Free Relay. Staying to the end gives energy and is a testament to team comradery.
Thank you, parents, for stepping forward for volunteering.

Dual meet #2 is under our belt. We had some outstanding swims, at both dual meets, and the competition yielded best times and/or lessons that we will take to practice.
Below is the list of swimmers who have identified themselves as not being able to attend the PVAC meet. This list is going to our coaches for the creation of the line-ups. It is crucial that we know this information and for it be accurate.

We will soon be celebrating a holiday, rooted in ‘thankfulness.’ Attached is a 21 Day Gratitude Challenge. From the 21 Day Gratitude Challenge:
“Understand that gratefulness is a work ethic. Being grateful is not a mystery. We have to train our brains to be grateful just like we work out our bodies. We not only need to be grateful, we need to work at being grateful. Try an experiment right now called the 21-Day Challenge. Combine each of the five researched habits and try it out for 21 days in a row to create or improve upon a grateful mind-set.”
Parents, you can revise this for younger swimmers, if you so wish.
To piggyback on this challenge, we want to extend our gratefulness by supporting the food drive at PAC. You can drop off canned goods at the entrance of PAC. We will be extending this opportunity to PVAC, as well. Perk swimmers, attending the dual meet at PAC can bring their canned goods at that time.
Reminder that we need your bios! Send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
